Restart rdpclip.exe

If you can't copy and paste while using Remote Desktop, there may be a problem with rdpclip.exe, the process for sharing the remote desktop clipboard.

Therefore, if you terminate the rdpclicp.exe process and restart it, copy and paste may be restored. To do this, exit rdpclip.exe once in Task Manager and run rdpclip.exe from File-Run New Task.

Quit unnecessary applications

If you have multiple applications running, one of them may be interfering with the copy and paste operation. For example, a shared clipboard in a virtual environment such as Virtualbox can affect the system. Therefore, if you are using a virtual environment, try disabling the shared clipboard or stop the virtual environment.

Disable app extensions

If copy and paste isn't available for some applications, it could be due to an extension in that application. For example, Microsoft Word, Excel, and browsers often use extensions.

So, if copy and paste doesn't work for a particular application, try disabling the extension. Here are the steps to disable the extension in Microsoft Office:

Select [File]-[Options]-[Add-ins] for each app, select "COM Add-ins" from [Administration], and click [Settings]. As an extension of Microsoft Office, SendToBluetooth may be the cause of the problem, so let's disable it.

Create a new user

Sometimes you can't copy and paste because your Windows user profile is corrupted. Therefore, it is also a good idea to create a new user profile.

Here are the steps to create a new user profile. First, select [Account] from [Settings]. Then click "Family and Other Users" in the list on the left and select "Add Other Users to This PC" to create a profile.

Restore system

If copy and paste doesn't work because of an update or app, restoring Windows may fix the problem. System Restore may remove recently installed drivers, updates, and apps. System Restore allows you to restore the copy and paste to the state it was in when it was in good working order.

System restore can be done from [Control Panel]-[Recovery]. Select Open System Restore and select the restore point associated with the likely problematic driver, app, or update. Depending on the system settings, there may be no restore point.
