The artist SayPe (Saype, born in 1989), named "Say Peace", is in the spotlight in Europe. The "grabbed arm" and "the child playing", which he draws on a mountainous or vast square with a spray machine, is too huge. You can see the whole picture for the first time by shooting with a drone from the sky.His colors are white, black, and gray. The shadow emerges from the ground, giving a strong impression with the surrounding nature and buildings.SAYPE's painting is drawn in biodegradable paint in consideration of the environment, so it disappears in a short period of time.Considering the strong presence of the picture and the effort of drawing, it is a waste to collapse and disappear after a while, but SAYPE find value there and keep drawing.
His talent was blooming in his early teens. The picture is self -taught. He would have succeeded as an artist even if he was attending school, but he chose a nurse as his first job. Nurse's career has a positive effect on his hobby art activities and has been financially supported. Eventually, he began to exhibit his work at the art fair and gallery, and in 2015 he drew his first land art in France. The following year, the second work, 10,000 square meters, drawn in Switzerland, attracted the topic as the world's largest drawn on grass at the time. His land art work increased, and in 2018, "Message from Future (message from the future)" drawn in Geneva, Switzerland was also high in message and had a loud response. In 2019, he was selected as a European art and culture category of the FORBES 30 UNDER 30, who changed the world selected by Forbes Magazine, and became more widely recognized as a land art artist.
In addition to drawing for the client, I was able to talk to SayPe, who was flying around the world on her own project, which started in 2019 [Beyond Walls], returned to European homes.

When I contacted me, I was drawing in the jungle. You're around the world with Corona.
Yes Yes!It was in a Jungle in South America (laughs). It is a pity that preparing for one work usually starts a year ago, including selection of location, so it will be postponed. Two works were forced to postpone for the pandemic. The new schedule has already been decided, but the original schedule has opened and I felt that time was very wasteful.
The completeness of the work is perfect! What are the secrets that will not fail?
Draw on the ground while looking at the original picture in your hand.Draw a square (auxiliary line) on the original picture, hit a small wooden pile every 4m on the ground, and make a square like the original. It is drawn as a guide to the square eyes that have been enlarged to the ground. You cannot fail. You can't dig up the ground at that point, and if you make a mistake, the stability of the whole picture will be broken.Really, you need a lot of concentration.I feel interesting there.
Are the paint always three colors?Do you use other colors?
Well, white, black, gray. But it's not always the same color. The color material is made by itself that it does not burden the environment as much as possible. White is a chalk (calcium), black is charcoal, and the protein is mixed so that the paint sticks to the grass or soil to have sticky.I am.I do not say that it has no effect on the environment because people only have an impact on the environment.Anyway, I'm always thinking about how to keep it at a minimum.
Carry tens of kgs to the place where these powder is drawn and mix with the water in the land. There is a difference in water quality, the quality of the drawing is grass, sand, and the state of the lawn is different every time, so adjust the optimal color for the place to be drawn from white to black. The color sample used in each work is left on the cardboard debris.

Along with paint equipment, drones are also essential tools.
That's right!I started drawing on the lawn because the drone became widespread. My parents were not really interested in art at all, and I had been playing sports since I was little, but when I was 14 years old, I suddenly woke up to art and searched for a place that was not known to people.started.I just wanted to express myself, not to want to stand out. Then, when I started drawing on Kanbas, my best friends sold it during the summer vacation to earn pocket money to make money. It sold properly.
I was happy to know that the art would be money, but when I thought about my course, my mother advised me, "I love art, but it's better to do a job that I can do self -help."She thought she was so, so she became a nurse and continued the picture as a hobby.
So, when I worked close to the death of a person, I came to think so deeply about the meaning of life, "What is your place in the world?"Then, I feel like creating something new.Just when the drone was breaking, I decided to look at the graffiti I drew at the beginning from above. Now I bought one very old model and started drawing in the garden of the house.
The drone expands the possibilities of my land art.One work depends on the size, and it takes two days to one week to draw. However, the biggest thing so far is the 6th arm of [Beyond Walls], which was drawn for 9 days at Cote Jiboire in Africa (2020).There are 18,000 m2, and it is said to be the best land art drawn by one artist. For nine days, I drew non -stop every day from early morning to night, and it was hard and crazy.5kg was thin.
On the other hand, using a drone takes a lot of time to prepare. It may be the most difficult part of the production process. Because there are flight regulations, I look for a place where I can fly, but I sometimes do not go smoothly with a drone, so I care about the procedure. Nevertheless, you may have a problem even though you have obtained permission in advance. For example, when I drew it in Turin, Italy, I was refused just before I got permission to take a drone from the city police chief. I was very impatient. But I never had to shoot, so I thought. When I consulted because the president of a famous company with Turin was my friend, she called the Italian minister. So 200 police officers were dispatched to stop transportation such as cars and trams, and pedestrians stopped to shoot.

[Beyond Walls] will be drawn in about 40 places around the world? Now 10 works are over.
Yes, 10 places! How many draws did you draw? There are times when I think (laughs) I have a world map on my official website, and I have marked where I drew and where to draw, but I have not decided about the future. That is the place I want to draw.Since all countries in the world cannot go around, we choose a place that can be strongly expressed as Togetherness (solidarity) based on the history of the land. There is also a mark to Japan. When drawing in Asia, Japan will never be removed!
[Beyond Walls] is the first one drawn under the Eiffel Tower in Paris according to the World Refugee Day.The trigger was "Message from Future" (2018) drawn in Geneva, Switzerland the previous year.I actually floated a small white ship (imitating origami) on Lake Lehman, and drew a scene where a girl was flowing it.The purpose was to support NGOs working to rescue immigrants and refugees in the Mediterranean. The picture became a hot topic, and the Swiss government has changed some of the immigration and refugee policy. At this time, I was convinced, "Wow, art can change society!"
At that time, I felt that the construction of the Trump wall (a long wall on the United States to prevent illegal immigrants from Mexico) was unreasonable. Why not use the huge construction cost to help Mexico people?I thought that Mexican people would be happy.People who are difficult in poverty or war should not really want to leave their country.Even if you move, isn't your life in a new land still tough? The more you think about it, the more you have to talk about the economic disparity and environmental issues in the world, and you have to send a message that people should learn each other and help each other. The series name [Beyond the wall] has the meaning of crossing the Trump wall.
I took a picture of 2,000 arms for this series. There were people I met, both a super famous person, such as a athlete who knew it, did not know who was just looking at the arms in the photo, and it is common in terms of people.I decided to draw and convey the universality around the world.Every time I draw, I choose to draw this arm, but I don't know who's arms.

The [Beyond Walls] work chooses a place that symbolizes peace and solidarity, and an event that could not occur with the spirit of Hakui. For example, in Benan in Africa, for example, in Benan, Africa, a village coast, which was once a million slave trade, and a village where people who flew from slave trade.Did.When selecting a place, I read materials and listen to experts.Of course, I will spend a lot of time choosing a place in Japan.

In addition to [BEYOND WALLS], the picture of a child on the theme of Corona is also impressive.
Well, that was a wonderful work.I don't know why, but I really like it in my work!I had been staying in Africa for a long time when the new colon virus infection began to expand in Europe. My wife at her home told me that everyone was running for a panic in Europe, and I was very surprised because there was no such situation in Africa. When I returned to Europe, it was unprecedented, and it was locked down all over the world, and most people looked only on the dark side.I couldn't help it.I wanted to tell you that there are some positive aspects.
The girls seemed to be drawing their hands and dancing with white chalk, but this girl is not lonely but connected to other people, including friends, humans. He expresses that it should be possible to create a harmonious world over the crisis situation.
"Beyond Crisis" is one of another series [Human Story (Human Story)].This series describes the topic that draws my interest from time to time, and is motifs for children and elderly people.
SAYPE "Beyondcrisis" | A work drawn at the Swiss Lesan Alps resort.(VALENTIN FLAURAUD FOR SAYPE)
Why do children and the elderly are motifs?
The child lives at the moment of now, is innocent, poetic, and is very attracted. And when I draw a child, I think about myself and other people, "What kind of world will we leave for children?"Elderly people like it because people who have lived for a long time still know a lot of things, so I want to respect them.
Do you draw small works in the atelier?
I stopped drawing on a canvas in the atelier two years ago.Production in the atelier is always the same procedure, and I almost understand the result.Land art is really completely different every time. It's fun to draw with the atelier, but Land Art is an adventure itself, and it's interesting and unavoidable.
Is it a land art in the future?
Yes!Each one is a challenge, and I feel a sense of fulfillment to challenge it.While I was a nurse, I thought I would be able to work comfortably if I became an artist, but it was ridiculous (laughs).I sometimes do something during my vacation. But I feel happy.
My two assistants were best friends who sold my paintings when I was in my teens. She stopped working and told me she was involved in my land art production.I'm not going to increase the number of staff and announce the works, but I'm going to proceed without changing my family -like relationship with them.
The world is full of difficult problems, and my land art may be only a drop in the ocean.Still continue. My picture disappears, but I hope that it will leave something in the mind of the viewer.Maybe I have a chance to affect my message.I feel that I have a responsibility to inspire others.
