Apple has announced that the 3.5mm headphone jack on the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros will detect high-impedance headphone connections and automatically It says to adjust. On October 27, local time, Appl released a supporting document, explaining that the new MacBook Pro's headphone jack has a DC power detection function and automatically adjusts the output level according to the impedance of the headphone.
The higher the impedance (resistance) of the headphones, the clearer the sound with less noise. Also, since the sound generated by the headphones is small, a separate headphone amplifier was required to use it in combination with a computer. The voltage is automatically adjusted to 1.25 volts RMS when headphones with an impedance of less than 150 ohms are connected to the new MacBook Pro, and to 3 volts RMS when headphones with an impedance between 150 ohms and 1,000 ohms are connected. Apple explains that you won't need a headphone amp.
The MacBook Pro's built-in digital-to-analog converter (DAC) supports sampling rates up to 96kHz, allowing you to connect headphones to your MacBook Pro. Just by plugging in, you can listen to high-resolution sound that is faithful to the original sound. Along with the new MacBook Pro, Apple has also announced an update to the music production app Logic Pro, which is optimized for the M1 Pro and M1 Max and supports the creation of spatial audio content.
